Emergency service | |
We will provide 24-hour service for emergencies relating to buildings, building works and signboards: | |

(i) In urban areas, to inspect within 1.5 hours; | 100% |
(ii) In new towns in New Territories (NT) to inspect within 2 hours; | 100% |
(iii) In other areas in NT, to inspect within 3 hours. | 100% |
(b) Outside office hours | |
(i) In urban areas & new towns in NT to inspect within 2 hours; | 100% |

Investigation on unauthorised building works | |
We will inspect within 48 hours for non-emergency reports on unauthorised building works under construction. | 99% |
Advisory service on licence applications | |
We will advise licensing authorities on building safety requirements for new applications for restaurants licence and places of public entertainment licence within 12 working days. | 98% |
(Remarks: The Independent Checking Unit (ICU) exercises statutory building control under delegated authority from the Building Authority (i.e. the Director of Buildings) to properties developed by the Hong Kong Housing Authority that have been sold or divested, in accordance with the Buildings Ordinance and the policies and guidelines of the Building Authority. The performance pledge and targets of ICU for these buildings basically follow the corresponding Buildings Department’s service standard and performance targets.)
